New Orleans is known for its old houses but Baton Rouge is filled with them too. This one is the oldest free standing residence in downtown. It survived because the owner has a passion for old homes and wanted to save it from certain loud noises by the owner of the hotel next door. Since the windows were more than 100 years old, they need some help making the house energy efficient AND reducing the noise (Those are exhaust fans from the kitchen of the hotel next door).
